PSC's Cylinder Assist® Steering Kit is designed to provide increased steering authority for Jeep CJ applications running larger tires and facing demanding off-road conditions. By adding hydraulic assist to the steering system, it helps reduce steering effort while improving control in challenging terrain.

At the heart of the system is a PSC BIG BORE XD-CJ Steering Gear configured for Cylinder Assist® operation. Engineered to deliver increased torque output while maintaining predictable steering response, it is well suited for trail-driven and street-driven vehicles alike.

This kit includes the components needed to upgrade or replace a complete Cylinder Assist® steering system. Designed to work together as a matched package, the components provide the performance, durability, and reliability required for serious off-road use.

Heads‑up for installers

If you’re wheeling in intermediate to advanced terrain, we recommend upgrading the pump with a -6 JIC Male Flow Control Valve and matching hose/fitting kit. It helps keep fluid moving efficiently to the gear and cylinder, especially under load.

Tech Tip: 

Positive caster helps your steering wheel return to center and improves straight-line stability. For best results with larger tires, we recommend 6–7 degrees of positive caster on your front axle. It’ll help keep your CJ tracking straight and feeling solid at speed.
